The Heart Behind The
Butterfly Hug
The journey of The Butterfly Hug began with a simple mission: to give children the language and support they need to navigate their biggest feelings. Inspired by the resilience and imagination she sees in children every day, Dr. Courtney Glickman created this story to help young readers learn gentle ways to calm their bodies, understand their emotions, and feel more confident in themselves.
Dr. Courtney Glickman is a pediatric mental health therapist, author, and mother of two. She is the founder and director of The Collective Healing Center in Annapolis, Maryland, where she works with children and families navigating anxiety, trauma, and emotional challenges. For more than a decade, she has been dedicated to helping young people build resilience, self-awareness, and a sense of safety within themselves.
Dr. Glickman has held adjunct faculty appointments at The George Washington University and serves as a clinical supervisor and training consultant with The Center for Nature-Informed Therapy. She presents nationally and internationally and has published on play therapy, trauma, attachment, and nature-based interventions. Her leadership and contributions to the field of children’s mental health have been formally recognized on the floor of the Maryland State Senate.
Through both her clinical work and writing, Dr. Glickman is passionate about helping children and families tap into their natural capacity for healing, creativity, and growth. The Butterfly Hug is a labor of love—designed to empower young readers with the confidence to process their world through kindness and self-awareness
She is represented by More Zap Productions & Management LLC.
